1-26-11 Fly Fishing Show

The Fly Fishing Show in Somerset was a blast. I am still amazed at the welcoming I received. My flies flew as fast as I could tie them. Thanks to everyone that stopped by, checked out my stuff and offered words of encouragement. It's an honor to be welcomed to this group of world class tiers. I look forward to the next show...

1-20-11 Woolly Bastards

These are a newer baitfish pattern that I have been playing around with. The body is made of stacked, packed and trimmed wool. There is a Fly Lipp on the front for some extra movement. Cone head, feathery tail, some fins and a little flash. Enjoy...

1-17-11 Deer hair sculpin

This is a weighted deer hair fly that I make to resemble a sculpin. I also tie them in different baitfish colors...When the water is dark or murky, and you need to make some movement...These things are killer...

Mustad 1/0 34007
Yellow dumbell eyes
Stacked deer hair head
Crystal flash
White/tan/red bucktail for belly
Olive rabbit strip for body
Pheasant for fins

Get on the vise and make some....

1-16-11 Rabbit Strip Divers

These are a collection of rabbit strip divers...These are one of my favorite flies to throw at smallies when they want to eat on top. Watching a smallmouth slam a bass bug is the essence of bass fly fishing for me...

This fly is a zoo cougar variation that I tie for pickerel fishing. If you've never caught a pickerel on the fly, you are certainly missing out on some serious fun...

This is a how-to video on making a rabbit strip diver...Enjoy...Tight Lines and Screaming Reels....

1-8-11 Divers

These are a couple of divers I made today...The red one is classic predator colors...red and white...The collar ended up a little thinner then I would have liked...A result of the all to easy over trim...I'm blaming my head cold for the lack of control....The blue diver is a favorite color scheme of mine for small mouth on top...The smallies seem to slam this pattern on my creek early mornings....

Mouse and Diver from this morning 1-4-11

A little mouse action....This time I left the hook on and it's not for my cat...A new diver as well...finished off this morning with a cup o' joe....The tail on the diver, the red part, is articulated and moves all over hell when wiggle and pulled through the water....You can fish divers on a sink line as well for some added water pushing goodness....They create a huge wake under the surface...

Articulated Deer Hair Bass Bug...new for 2011

For 2011...I have decided my top water bass bugs needed an upgrade...So without further ado...My articulated swimming fish complete with fly lipp and three articulation points...I have used fly lipps before and they add a fair amount of movement, I have also added articulations to a lot of my flies....but never all in one quiet like this...Enjoy...
